Exercise 1: Contrasting the sounds
- Listen to the word pairs, focusing on the two different sounds.
- Then repeat, again focusing on saying the different sounds for /ʧ/ and /ʤ/

Exercise 2: Listening and distinguishing the sounds
This will help you learn to distinguish the two sounds.
- Listen to the recording.
- Choose the word you hear.
- You can listen as many times as you want.
- Click the blue > arrow on the bottom right to move to the next question.
Exercise 3: Tongue twister
- Repeat the following tongue twister.
- Focus on the two different sounds /w/ as in wet and /v/ as in vet.
- Repeat again, trying to say the tongue twister faster and faster.
Cherry and Jerry went to chill with Bill and Jill
Chen and Chin came to drink a batch of gin
They said “Let’s chat and chill”
“Yes, let’s choke on a joke” said Jill.
Exercise 4: Record your voice and listen back
Hopefully, by recording your voice and listening back, you’ll be able to hear if you are saying these words correctly and focus on improving your pronunciation.
