Infant mortality in Lilliput

© Paul Smit 2006-2020

Original text:

Recently, far fewer people have been dying in Lilliput. Far fewer babies and toddlers have been dying as well as far fewer adults. This has happened for several different reasons. One reason is that fewer people are dying from heart attacks because they are eating better food. Another reason is that facilities such as garbage removal and sewerage are steadily getting better. Finally, people are becoming more aware of how important it is to wash their hands and bathe regularly.

Nominalised text:

Both adult and infant mortality figures in Lilliput have seen a sharp decline recently and there are a number of reasons for this. One reason is a dramatic reduction in the death rate due to heart disease, resulting from better nutrition. Another reason is steady improvements in basic sanitation. Finally, there is a greater awareness of the importance of basic hygiene.
