Exercise four:
Rewrite the following text, nominalising each sentence.
Some young people in Australia drink too much and this causes a lot of problems. Firstly, they often get sick with colds and other minor illnesses because drinking too much affects their immune system. Secondly, if they binge drink, they could poison themselves and even die. If they are lucky, someone will take them to hospital to get their stomach pumped. Furthermore, when they are very drunk, they face increased risks such as falling over and injuring themselves or walking out in front of a car. Often they lose their normal common sense and behave in an unusual way, doing things they would not normally do, such as driving while intoxicated or getting into fights. In addition, they sometimes participate in unsafe sex and get pregnant or contract sexually transmitted diseases. These are just the immediate dangers they face; however, they also do serious long-term damage to their bodies. For example, they can damage their long-term health, doing damage to their brains or liver.
